AMMAN, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Jordan said on Saturday that the operations of bringing home Jordanians from abroad via land and air would be suspended from June 27 to July 10, except for the preprogrammed trips.

Mazen Faraiah, director of operations at the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management's crisis cell, announced that the decision was taken for reasons related to reorganizing the reception, quarantine, and medical examination procedures, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

He also highlighted the noticeable increase in the number of infections reported among people in quarantine sites and those who are in contact with them.

Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Tariq Hammouri said in a statement that entertainment and recreation facilities within tourist resorts, parks and special education centers, will be allowed to resume operations from June 28.

Seven new COVID-19 cases were registered in Jordan on Saturday, increasing the tally to 1,111, the government announced.

China has supported Jordan's fight against the pandemic. On May 31, China donated a batch of medical supplies to Jordan to help combat the coronavirus. Enditem
