Elias Farhart-Director of Confucius Institute (Lebanon)
Translator's note: Lebanon professor Elias Farhart published a signed article during the outbreak of NCP in China, praising the professional and effective measures of the Chinese government in preventing the epidemic spread, which also protect the safety and health of humankind. He also pointed out that the Huawei Threat Theory by some countries to attack China is extremely immoral, and urged people around the world to work with China to overcome the difficulties. This article is a concrete expression of the theory of a community of shared future for mankind in a special period, which reflects the long-standing relationship between China and Arab.
The translation is as follows:
NCP transmission has taken over the front pages of major media in the world. So far, no effective drug or vaccine to block the virus transmission has been found.
The Chinese government has adopted rapid, rigorous, wise, and professional measures to respond to the epidemic, and has completely blocked Hubei Province, while other regions have adopted effective prevention and control measures, such as restricting travel and distributing masks.
After the Chinese government, especially the health department issued instructions for the prevention and control of the epidemic, the people's positive response was appreciated. For example, I noticed that many people took the initiative to volunteer for Hubei Provincial Hospital regardless of their life risks, especially in Wuhan.
People order daily needs on mobile phones or social software, and these volunteers are responsible for delivering these items to residential quarters.
At the same time, the Chinese government releases information in a timely and transparent manner, and broadcasts the number of diagnoses, deaths and cures in real time every day. These statistics help the government to evaluate the prevention and control measures and travel restrictions in a timely manner. Other countries with overseas Chinese are keeping an eye on the latest information of the epidemic spread. There is close sea, land and air connections between China and these countries.
There is no doubt that the world shows sympathy with China and Chinese people. But what is doubtful is that when China strains every nerve to fight against the epidemic, protect the people, and even protect the humanity, some people are trying to harm China by the gambit of Huawei and its “high-end technology threat”. What do they mean when they talk about relocating factories, technology cooperation prospects, and looking for alternative products, as if they want to inherit from the prosperous China?
These remarks are, to say the least, immoral. China, a country that has never colonized any country, occupied any country's territory, or a country that has never expelled any nation or race, insists on sharing the fruits of development with the countries and people of the world, rather than adopting immoral policies by taking advantage of other countries.
Therefore, morally, legally, and politically, we should all join hands together with China to tide over the difficulties. This is the requirement of our heart, values and principles.
Long live China and the Chinese people! We sincerely hope that China can overcome the epidemic as soon as possible and review its pioneer function in the world.
