From November 12th to 13th, the 14th Prosperity Middle East Economic Future conference was held in Doha, Qatar. The meeting was co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and UCLA Middle East Development Center. Ali Sharif Amadi, Qatar’s Finance Minister；Joyce Banda，former President of the Republic of Malawi； Edward Secuna，the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Malta, and More than 270 celebrities from 73 countries attended the conference. Representatives from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai International Studies University and the National Export-Import Bank attended the meeting.
The theme of this session is “Opportunities and Progress in the Middle East”, focusing on the following topics: the great changes and development opportunities in the Middle East; the main challenges of regional economic transformation; whether Asia's participation will change the Middle East; the trend and development of China-Middle East economic relations; The impact of climate change on energy and the economy; the impact of the Syrian crisis on the economic situation in the Middle East and Europe. In addition to economic themes, it also includes changes in European Middle East policy, nationalism and globalism in the Middle East and North Africa, and Women's Empowerment.
At present, the world economy is encourtering unprecedented challenges and fundamental changes. The trade protectionism and trade disputes among the world's major powers have intensified, which has affected the economic development of various regions of the world, including the Middle East. This meeting is a powerful platform for experts and scholars from all countries to explore how the countries, especially the Middle East, can cope with economic challenges.
China has become a high-frequency word at this conference, and the Chinese issue has received wide attention from participants from all over the world. Professor Wang Guangda, Executive Director of CARC, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
