On the morning of November 11, a delegation of 15 scholars from the House of Wisdom of Iraq visited CARC.The two sides held a discussion and exchange at the International Education Center of Songjiang Campus. Associate Professor Chen Yueyang and Iraqi Foreign Minister Advisor Ibrahim Mohamed Faisal attended the forum.
The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on the specific areas and paths of the Belt and Road between China and Iraq, as well as the cooperation between the Center and theHouse of Wisdomin the future. The head of the delegation, Abdul Amir Zahid, a professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Kulfa, thanked the center for its warm reception and thoughtful arrangement. He said that development is the eternal theme of mankind. Iraq is now facing multiple difficulties in internal and external development and hopes to cooperate with China in economic and academic fields. Bileer Kahim Jawadi, researcher of Institute of Economics of the House of Wisdom, pointed out that what Iraq needs most at present is exchanges and cooperation with China in the technical field.Iraq hopes to learn from China's excellent experience in industrial system construction and high-tech industry development. Associate Professor Chen Yueyang introduced the basic situation and the development of CARC, then expressed her desire for academic cooperation with the House of Wisdom. China attaches great importance to friendly relations with Iraq, and Iraq is also one of the first Arab countries to respond to the Belt and Road Initiative. TheHouse of Wisdomis a well-known think tank in Iraq, the two sides share common language and common concerns in many aspects, and susceptible to cooperate in academic exchanges, conferences, publications and other fields.
At the beginning of the discussion, the delegation watched the propaganda film of CARC and enjoyed the performance of classical Chinese musical instrument guzheng. After the meeting, the Center also organized the delegation to experience the traditional Chinese calligraphy culture. The Center presented the “New Concept, New Ideas and New Strategies for Governing the Country with Comrade Xi Jinping as the Core (Arabic Edition) ” and exchanged souvenirs.
The House of Wisdom was established in 1995，which is the official think tank of the Iraqi Prime Minister's Office. The research orientation are broad, such as history, philosophy, religion, economics, society, law, language and translation, strategy and policy research, which plays an important role in Iraq and the Arab world. This exchanges of think tanks highlights the role of the central ideological platform, which is another effective attempt to exchange experience with Arab countries in governing the country and reform and development.
