On September 28, Hessem Muzachem, Director of the Beirut Middle East Research Center in Lebanon, visited CARC and held in-depth discussions with Professor Wang Guangda, Executive Director of the Center, and Professor Ibtisan Mohamed Abdul Az Amer, Visiting Scholar of CARC, Director of the Center for International Strategic Studies at University of Baghdad.
The two sides conducted detailed exchanges on the Belt and Road between China and Lebanon, the cultural exchanges between China and Arab countries, and the current situation in the Middle East. Through exchanges, the guest understood the first “Belt and Road” education cooperation project between China and Lebanon – the “China Studies Overseas Project” jointly established by SISU and the University of Lebanon. It is hoped that China and Lebanon will establish more cooperative relationships under the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative, and expressed their desire to further cooperate with CARC. Later, the two sides held in-depth discussions on issues such as the current Gulf situation, US-Iranian relations, and Yemen crisis.
On September 29, Dr. Hessem Muzachem gave a lecture on the theme of the Middle East in the post-Islamic State at Hongkou Campus.
