Strengthening Think Tank Exchange and Cooperation Sharing China's Development Philosophy—— Brookings Institute Doha Center Scholar Visited CARC

      On the afternoon of September 24th, the Brookings Institution of Doha Center scholars visited CARC. Members of the delegation included Umar Chachahoni, Director of the External Relations Department of the Brookings Doha Center, visiting scholar Yasmin Abu Zuhur, and senior assistant researcher Anna Jacobs.


       Through exchanges, the guests have gained an in-depth understanding of the achievements of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum over the past 15 years and the role of the Center as a platform for China-Arab exchanges of experience in governance and reform and development. At present, the center has successfully held eight seminars for Arab officials and one China-Arab Political Party Seminar with the theme of “Building the Belt and Road: The Responsibility of Political Parties”.It is hoped to share China's development experience with Arab countries through such mechanisms and activities. Director Omer introduced the basic situation of the Brookings Institution Doha Center and expressed his desire to further cooperate with the Center. Later, the two sides held in-depth discussions on issues such as the current Gulf situation, US-Iranian relations, and Yemen crisis.

     

       The Brookings Institution Doha Center was established in October 2007 which is part of the Saipan Middle East Policy Research Center under the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Brookings Institution. It is dedicated to study issues related to geopolitics, socio-economic issues in the Arab world and the Middle East policy research, including the relationship between the United States and the Islamic world. Through this forum, the Center and the mainstream American think tank exchanged views on the Arab issues, the situation in the Middle East and the US Middle East policy, further demonstrated the ideological platform and intellectual support of CARC.
