CARC Was Invited to Participate in the 2nd “Belt and Road” Shanghai Forum

On September 11, 2019, the 2nd “ Belt and Road Shanghai Forum was held at the Shanghai International Convention Center. The forum was jointly organized by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the Center for Contemporary World Studies of the International Department, and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. More than 400 well-known scholars from home and abroad discussed China's future development in various fields:  politics, economy, culture, society and international relations.



Professor Wang Guangda, Secretary-General and Executive Director of CARC, was invited to attend the meeting.

 

    

         The 2nd Belt and Road Forum is the special session of the 8th World China Studies Forum. The theme of this forum focuses on promoting the construction and development of the 'Belt and Road' and setting up the discussions in groups:  Open Road: Third-Party Cooperation and Belt and Road, Green Road: Sustainable Development and 'Belt and Road' and Integrity Road: Building a Silk Road with Clean Air”. The experts and scholars around the world held discussions aiming at the six topics set up in the three sub-forums .


Professor Zhang Daogen, Dean of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences; Jin Xin, Director of the Center for Contemporary World Studies of the International Department, and Huang Xingbiao, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, delivered speeches on behalf of the organizers. In their speeches, they stressed that in the context of the new era, promoting the high-quality development of “Belt and Road” is of great significance to the regional and the global economy. It is expected that this forum will provide intellectual support to the high-quality development of “Belt and Road”.


The “Belt and Road” Shanghai Forum aims to use Shanghai as a platform to aggregate the power of government, enterprises and think tanks, to integrate the voices of domestic and foreign countries, and to promote the development of the “Belt and Road” construction in the new era.
