About the Author
Wang Guangda, Ph.D., Professor of SISU, Executive Director of CARC, is a member of the China World Ethnic Society and member of the China Middle East Institute. From 1993 to 2003, he studied at the Department of Arabic Studies at SISU. During this period, he also studied abroad at the Faculty of Arts of the Kuwait University and the Faculty of Arts of the Damascus University in Syria, and received his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in Arabic language and literature. He used to be deputy dean of the School of Oriental Studies at SISU (2008.01-2012.11, 2015.05-2018.06), and the Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute at Hassan II University in Casablanca, Morocco (2012.11-2015.02).
He has lectured on advanced core courses for undergraduates such as Advanced Arabic, Basic Arabic, Arabic Audiovisual and Listening, as well as Arab Islamic culture, Arabic Islamic history, Contemporary Islamic Thought research, and Introduction to Research Methods. Participated in the national Eleventh Five-Year Plan textbook New Arabic Course (fifth and sixth volumes), compiled Arabic Listening Teaching Theory and Practice, and published the book Contemporary Bahrain Society and Culture”, published 25 academic papers in such journals as World Nation, West Asia and Africa, Arab World Studies, Hui Studies” and other journals, also participated in the collection of Oriental Academic Forum (2008), Arab Research (The first volume in 2009, the second in 2010, the third in 2015). He presided over the “Arabic-Jewish Relations History” of the 2010 Shanghai Foreign Languages University-level Planning Project, and undertook the sub-project “Study on the Management Environment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” in the “Social Research on the Overseas Business Environment of Chinese Enterprises under the Background of Globalization”. In 2017, the National Social Science Fund's Chinese Academic Transliteration Project – “The World is the One: The Logic of the ‘Belt and Road’” (translation from Chinese to Arabic ) project was approved.
