YINCHUAN, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Despite a busy class schedule, Mohammed Abdulkarem, a Yemeni student at Ningxia Medical University in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, still followed the first China-Arab States Summit.
China has always been friendly to Arab countries, Abdulkarem said. I believe the summit will further develop China-Arab relations, promote fruitful cooperation, and contribute to peace and development in Arab states.
In 2015, Abdulkarem applied to study in China. After one year of learning the Chinese language, he enrolled in Xiamen University in east China's Fujian Province as an undergraduate in clinical medicine major. In the summer of this year, he finished his study at Xiamen University. He went on to pursue a master's degree in urology at Ningxia Medical University.
I will try my best to pass the Chinese medicine practitioner qualification test and become an excellent doctor in the future, said Abdulkarem.
China and Arab countries have maintained cooperation in health care. Since 2013, China has sent 80 medical teams to Arab countries, according to a report on China-Arab cooperation in the new era released by China's Foreign Ministry.
China and Arab countries enjoy bright prospects for cooperation in traditional medicine and medical education, Abdulkarem said.
Algeria enjoys a good relationship with China. There are many Chinese working and doing business there. I hope the China-Arab States Summit will further promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, said Leila Bouziane.
Bouziane finished her graduate studies in her home country and went on to study the Chinese language at North Minzu University in Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia. After studying for four years, she can speak fluent Chinese and is applying for doctoral studies.
Bouziane said during her stay in China, she has fully experienced the convenience that science and technology have brought. She expects more bilateral cooperation in science, technology and health care in the future.
Bassam Salem Alsalehi, a Yemeni graduate from North Minzu University, is also following the China-Arab States Summit.
China-Arab cooperation has massive potential, particularly in infrastructure and energy, Alsalehi said.
In 2021, trade between China and Arab states reached 330.3 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 150 percent from 10 years ago. In the first three quarters of 2022, China-Arab trade reached 319.3 billion dollars, up 35.28 percent year on year, data showed.
Alsalehi, a former international economics and trade major who came to China in 2014, is preparing to set up a trading company in Yinchuan to cash in on business opportunities.
Alsalehi said the summit would promote the deepening and development of friendly bilateral relations to achieve mutual benefits and common development.
China, with its huge market, is offering entrepreneurs plenty of opportunities, Alsalehi said. ■
