On the morning of May 30, the 25th seminar for Arab officials, organized by the China-Arab Research Center on Reform and Development (hereinafter referred to as “the Center”), successfully concluded. Jian Fangning, Deputy Director-General of the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and Yin Dongmei, Chair of the Center’s Council and Party Secretary of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), attended the graduation ceremony.

The ceremony was hosted by Wang Guangda, Secretary-General of the Center. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the China-Arab Research Center on Reform and Development, and the Middle East Studies Institute of SISU were also present.

In her address at the graduation ceremony, Yin Dongmei extended warm congratulations on behalf of SISU and the Center to the Algerian participants for the successful completion of the ten-day seminar. She noted that this seminar focused on high-quality China-Arab development and high-level cooperation under the framework of openness, helping participants gain a deeper understanding of China’s development experience and cooperation potential. Since its founding, the Center has held 25 seminars, and it will continue to expand its scale and influence, striving to become an important platform for China-Arab dialogue on civilization and policy exchange. She also introduced SISU’s Multilingual Plus talent cultivation model, and warmly welcomed more young Algerian scholars to pursue further studies in China and contribute fresh vitality to China-Arab friendship and cooperation.

Fouad Chalabi, Advisor to the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of Algeria, delivered remarks on behalf of the participants. He noted that the seminar allowed the participants to gain deep insights into the vivid practices of Chinese-style modernization. As Algeria’s comprehensive strategic partnership with China continues to grow closer, Algeria sincerely welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and operate in the country, working together to build a new pattern of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.

Following the speeches, Yin Dongmei and Jian Fangning presented graduation certificates to the participants, gave commemorative books as gifts, and joined them for a group photo.

During the “Listening and Dialogue” session, Ding Jun, Director of the Middle East Studies Institute of SISU, and Ding Long, Deputy Director, held in-depth discussions with the seminar participants. Ding Jun emphasized that the Global Civilization Initiative advocates respect for the diversity of civilizations, opposes the theories of civilizational superiority and clash, and calls for equal dialogue and mutual learning among civilizations—offering Chinese wisdom and solutions to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Ding Long expressed hope that the long-standing friendly political relationship between China and Algeria could be translated into more practical, thriving cooperation in trade and investment. He called for stronger exchanges between the two sides to jointly promote industrial development and improve livelihoods, unlocking broader prospects for cooperation.

In his concluding remarks, Jian Fangning noted that in the face of rising unilateralism and protectionism—especially the United States’ disregard for international law and trade rules and its indiscriminate imposition of tariffs that seriously violate the legitimate rights of all countries—China and Arab states should uphold their traditional friendship, tap into their cooperation potential, strengthen solidarity, and jointly safeguard the common interests of developing countries. He emphasized the importance of steadily advancing the China-Arab comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights.

The successful conclusion of the 25th seminar for Arab officials not only deepened participants’ understanding of China’s national conditions and development path, but also injected fresh momentum into China-Arab mutual trust and cooperation. Looking ahead, the two sides will continue to uphold the spirit of solidarity, cooperation, mutual benefit, and win-win outcomes, jointly promoting the five cooperation frameworks, advancing together on the path to modernization, tackling global challenges hand in hand, enriching the substance of the China-Arab community with a shared future, and contributing more positive energy to world peace and prosperity.
