CARC Scholars participated in the 19th Doha Forum

From December 14th to 15th, the 19th Doha Forum was held in Doha, Qatar. The meeting was hosted by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani from Qatar ; Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysian Prime Minister; Tijani Mohammed-Band, President of the General Assembly; Moussa Faki Mohammed, Chairman of the AU Commission; Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar; Chavushoglu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey; Mnuchin, U.S. Treasury Secretary ; Ivanka Trump, U.S. President's Senior Advisor; Taro Kono, Japanese Defense Minister, Approximately 4,000 officials, scholars and celebrities from more than 100 countries attended the meeting. Representatives from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Fudan University, Ocean University of China, Shanghai International Studies University, the Contemporary World and China Research Institute attended the meeting.


The theme of this forum is Reshaping Governance in a Multipolar World, it is committed to solving the common challenges facing the world. The main topics include: the Challenges of Technology and Global Governance; Adaptation Challenges: a New Approach to Climate Change; Combating Extremism; the Future of LNG in Meeting World Energy Needs; Sino-US Relations and a Rules-based Future International System; the Future of Palestine; Proxy Wars in Africa: Libya and the Horn of Africa; Syria, Yemen and Libya Crises, and Gulf Security.



The Doha Forum is one of the most internationally influential forums in the Middle East. The forum lasted for two days and held more than 50 sub-forums and symposia. Experts and scholars from various countries had a dialogue on the major issues and challenges currently facing the world, and have promoted exchanges among officials, experts, and scholars in ideas, discourses, and policy making. Ambassador Gong Xiaosheng, Former Special Envoy for the Middle East, Specially-appointed Researcher of CARC, and Professor Wang Guangda, Executive Director of CARC, exchanged and discussed with scholars from other countries on the theme of the forum, Reshaping Governance in a Multipolar World.

CARC is committed to providing a platform for the exchanges of ideas and the governance of country between China and Arab countries, also held twice China-Arab reform and development forums, there is much space for cooperation with the Doha Forum.
