Secretary-General of the International Arabic Committee Ali Abdullah Moussa Visited CARC

On October 28th, Ali Abdullah Moussa, Secretary-General of the International Arabic Committee and Chairman of the Arab Thought Fund, who was attending the 3rd International Conference on Interdisciplinary Studies in Interpretation, visited CARC and interviewed by Professor Zhu Weilie, Director of the Expert Committee; Professor Wang Guangda, Executive Director of CARC and Associate Professor Chen Yueyang at Hongkou Campus.


The two sides exchanged detailed views on the current cooperation between China and Arab countries in the areas of people-to-people exchanges, translation in classics and academic research under the “Belt and Road Initiative. Professor Zhu Weilie said that CARC is a platform for the exchange of ideas between China and Arab countries. It is hoped to cooperate and exchange ideas with the International Arabic Committee. The people-to-people exchanges between China and Arab countries are an important connotation of South-South cooperation. The two platforms could work closely in various fields such as translation, educational exchanges, and academic research. Secretary-General Ali Abdullah Moussa said that the International Arabic Committee, as an international organization under the UNESCO, should bear the responsibility of strengthening the dialogue in culture, history, ideas, and enhancing the positive perception between China and Arab countries. Professor Wang Guangda introduced the implementation of the project in the training of Chinese and Arab translators.

The International Arabic Language Council was established in 2008, which headquartered in Beirut, Lebanon. It is committed to actively promoting the protection of linguistic diversity and is an important platform for Arab countries to coordinate government and civil power and protect Arabic. Since 2012, the International Arabic Committee has held 8 translation conferences and 2 exhibitions in Beirut, Dubai and other places, compiled 8 conference proceedings, and has established five related institutions, including the International Arabic Federation, the International Arabic Translation Alliance, the Arab Media International Alliance, the International Association of Arabic Language Education, and the International Association of Arabic Languages.
