On the morning of June 25th, the opening ceremony of the first “Belt and Road” special seminar of CARC was held at the Songjiang Campus of SISU. The seminar consisted of 18 political parties representatives from Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia with the theme of “Building the Belt and Road: The Responsibility of Political Parties”.
Jiang Feng, Secretary of the Party Committee of SISU, Honorary Chairman of CARC; Yao Jianguo, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Center of International Department, Central Committee of CPC; Tariq Saide Hasanin, Secretary of the Alexandria Provincial Party Committee; Walid Jared, Member of the Tunisian National Assembly; Yu Hailin, Counselor of the International Exchange Center of International Department, Central Committee of CPC; You Kaijun, the Second Secretary of the International Exchange Center of International Department, Central Committee of CPC; Sun Zidong, Deputy Director of SISU Party Office, and all the participants of the seminar attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was hosted by Wang Guangda, Secretary-General and Executive Director of CARC Council.
Deputy Director Yao Jianguo delivered a speech
Deputy Director Yao Jianguo first gave a welcome speech. On behalf of the International Department, Central Committee of CPC, he welcomed the participants and thanked the great efforts of SISU and CARC. He pointed out that China-Arab friendship has a long history and the two sides have always trusted each other, supported each other and helped each other in the process of striving for national independence and country building. The political parties in different countries are the core leadership forces for promoting national development and international cooperation. It is hoped that through this seminar, all the parties can communicate frankly and reach consensus, build a new type of political party relationship, deepen the principle of seeking common ground while reserving differences, mutual respect, cooperation and mutual benefit. Under the framework of the “Belt and Road”, China and Arab countries have pragmatically cooperated and worked together to create a new era of China-Arab community. In addition, on the eve of the 70th anniversary of China, Deputy Director Yao specially mentioned that foreign language talents trained by SISU have made important contributions in promoting Chinese culture and world civilization.
Secretary Jiang Feng delivered a speech
On behalf of SISU and CARC, Secretary Jiang Feng welcomed the participants and thanked the International Department, Central Committee of CPC. Jiang said that this year is the 70th anniversary of SISU, it is also the first time that CARC hosts the China-Arab Political Party Seminar. SISU’s Arabic language teaching and Arab country study are well-known in the international academic community. Many teachers and students of SISU go to the Arab countries to study, and there are also many Arab students studying Chinese and Chinese culture. Secretary Jiang stressed that academic research is an important channel for enhancing mutual understanding, world peace and common happiness. Universities should make contributions to such a great project.
Secretary Tariq Saide Hassanin delivered a speech
Secretary Tariq Saide Hasanin thanked China for inviting representatives of political parties from the Arab countries to participate in the training. He said that Egypt is an important stop for the “Belt and Road initiative. The Free Egyptian Party supports the Belt and Road between China and Egypt and hopes to realize the development of the two countries at an early date. Egypt has developed a plan for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which includes a number of Chinese industrial zones and large-scale engineering projects. The construction and development of the economic zone is highly integrated with the “Belt and Road” initiative. Egypt will promote the facilitation of trade between the two countries by the construction of communication networks and ocean digitalization.
Walid Jared delivered a speech
Walid Jared, Representative of the Tunisian National League Parliamentary Group, delivered a speech on behalf of the participants. He said that the Tunisian people highly admire and appreciate the development achievements of China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Since the end of 2010, Tunisia has made progress in various fields, especially in the fight against terrorism. The establishment of the long-lived party in Tunisia is a continuation of the national advancement movement and carries the expectations of people of all walks of life. He emphasized that Tunisia hopes to get inspirations from the experience of China's development and broaden the scope of cooperation between the two countries.
During the ten-day training program, the participants will exchange ideas and discussions with Chinese experts and scholars on China's basic national conditions and official leadership training, the 70-year achievements and experience of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping's diplomatic thoughts, China-Arab strategic partnership in New Era and issues such as the responsibility of political parties in building the “Belt and Road” between China and Arab countries. At the same time, the center arranged a variety of on-the-spot visits and study activities for the participants. It is hoped that the participants will experience the development achievements of China's reform and opening up and explore the path of cooperation between the Chinese and Arab parties in practice.
